External Catheter, Reimagined
A four-component external system that directs urine away from the skin and contains it, rather than absorbing it against the body. No urethral insertion. No indwelling catheter.
Why it matters
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections remain one of the most common and most preventable healthcare-associated infections in the United States.
External catheters are a guideline-supported alternative to indwelling catheters, avoiding the urethral trauma and biofilm formation that drive most catheter-associated infections. Uro-Gard does not treat infection. It addresses the upstream cause: catheter use in patients who could be managed with an external device instead.

The Device
Most complications in incontinence care come down to two things: backflow and skin contact. Uro-Gard was engineered around both, without the invasiveness of an indwelling catheter.

Contoured wafer that secures the system and creates a stable seal.

Receives and directs flow away from the skin.

Contains the inner pouch and channels urine downward.
Carries urine to a standard bedside or leg bag.
A final collection reservoir attaches and detaches for mobility and activity.

Uro-Gard is designed for use wherever incontinence care is delivered: in the facility, in the community, and at home.
Our story
Fred Acosta spent more than thirty years as a registered nurse across nursing homes, acute care hospitals, and post-surgical recovery units. He repeatedly saw the same failure: men managing incontinence were offered products designed without regard for male anatomy, and when those failed, clinicians defaulted to indwelling catheters that carried avoidable infection risk.
He founded Acosta Medical Group to close that gap. His clinical experience is the specification behind the Uro-Gard design.
Mission
To profoundly improve quality of life for people living with incontinence, one day at a time.
Vision
Innovative devices that raise patient quality of life while reducing the cost of care.
